Shreveport has major advantages for lowering the costs of transportation for distribution companies due to our multimodal transportation options.
As the 3rd largest city in Louisiana (MSA population of 436,341), we are positioned uniquely to save distributors in both startup costs and ongoing operating costs. Our proximity as the largest city east of Dallas for 600 miles along Interstate-20 allows companies who locate here to save money on cost of transportation.
Multiple modes of transportation available to give you the lowest logistical costs possible.
Shreveport is located along the intersection interstate 20 and 49, two and a half hours east of Dallas. We have access to two Class I railroads (KCS and UP), a river port with barge and rail access, as well as a regional airport with flights to Denver, Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Destin, & Orlando.
The Port of Caddo-Bossier is under the Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) designation. This provides many cost saving advantages that allow foreign goods to enter the Port of Caddo-Bossier duty and quota free for an unlimited period of time. Additionally, imported goods assembled or manufactured in a FTZ zone may be subject to a lower duty rate. The Port is also designated a U.S Customs Port of Entry which allows goods to dock without stopping to clear customs along the way.
